Internet Speed Checker
Check Your Internet Speed Instantly – Fast, Free, Reliable, and Accurate Results in Seconds.
Internet Speed Test
Our Internet Speed Checker is a free online resource to measure your Internet connection’s speed. This intuitive tool accurately tests internet speed by using a test server (selectable) and provides the results in a user-friendly way.
Click the “GO” button to check internet speed of your office or home networks and ensure you get the network speeds you pay for.
Results of Internet Speed Test - Explanation of Output
You will see a graphical output (result) when you test network speed using our tool. It is quite easy to understand, but here’s an explanation of all the data you will see.

Download speed refers to the amount of data you can download per second. The higher your download speed, the faster you can download files from the internet. It is typically measured in Mbps and Gbps. |
![]() |
Upload speed refers to the amount of data you can upload to the internet(per second) from your device. The higher it is, the quicker you can send data to someone else. Measured in Megabits or Gigabits per second (Mbps, Gbps). |
![]() |
The ping/latency of the connection in milliseconds (ms). Refers to the time it takes for a packet to travel from your device to a server and vice versa. |
![]() |
Name of the test server used to check your internet speed. You can change the server by clicking on the blue text. |
![]() |
The IP address of the test server used for checking your internet speed. |
Why Do You Need To Test Your Internet Speed
There are many reasons why someone would need to run a speed test. Some of the most common ones are given below.
- To check if you are getting the advertised speeds. ISPs sometimes advertise more speed than they actually provide in order to gain a larger market share. This unethical practice can result in you paying more for less. So, checking your internet speed is required to avoid being duped.
- To check If you are being throttled. Sometimes, ISPs will throttle your connection. It could be due to government policy or something else. The point is that you need to be aware if your connection is being deliberately sabotaged so you can take steps to avoid it.
- To diagnose connectivity problems. Oftentimes, you will feel that your network connection is not performing well. Doing a speed test can reveal whether something is wrong with it or not. By doing an internet speed check, you gather some concrete evidence to forward to your ISP and get them to take prompt action.
- Test network speed after network fixes. When a network problem gets fixed, you need to verify it by checking your network speed.
- To check if your current package is sufficient for you. A network speed test reveals how much bandwidth is available to use. When you run speed test while using your internet, the speed you get shows how much bandwidth is left from your package. Higher amounts mean the package is sufficient, while lower amounts mean upgrades are required.
What are the Differences Between WiFi, Wired, And Mobile Internet Speed
Different types of internet connections have different speeds, but why? Technically, all connections to the same network should have the same speed. The differences are explained below.
WiFi/WLAN Internet Speed
WLAN, or WiFi, as it is more commonly called, can be used to connect both desktop and mobile devices to the internet wirelessly. All devices connected to the same WLAN/WiFi device will have the same speed.
However, due to the nature of WiFi transmission (radio waves), speeds can vary significantly even on the same device. WiFi devices use radio waves to send packets to the connected devices. These waves are affected by other radio waves in their vicinity. This means that their data can be lost during transit.
This means that data has to be retransmitted, which takes up bandwidth. As a result, speeds appear lower than advertised. This also means that whichever device is closer to the WLAN router will have better speeds.
Ethernet Cable (Desktop) Speed
Desktop and laptop computers enjoy the privilege of having an ethernet port and being able to connect with a wire to their WLAN router. Wired connections don’t experience interference of any kind so they are able to transmit the maximum speed of your internet connection.
That’s why even on the same internet, a wired desktop computer will show more speed on our internet speed test compared to a mobile device connected wirelessly.
Mobile Internet Speed
Mobile devices can tap into a separate internet connection that is tied to their SIM carrier. This internet is also wireless, so it has the same problems as WLAN internet. All the same principles apply; that is why the speed varies when testing with our internet speed checker.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is My internet speed test result lower than expected?
Wireless connections can suffer from interference from other WiFi devices, Bluetooth, and Microwave ovens. That’s why tests done with mobile internet or WiFi internet can have lower-than-expected results.
What is a good internet speed?
Typically, anything above 50 Mbps is great. However, if you are regularly streaming content and watching videos, then invest in a 100 Mbps or higher package.
How can I improve my Internet connection's speed?
To improve your internet speed, upgrade your router to a WiFi 6 router. Connect your desktop and laptop devices with ethernet cat-6 cables. Aside from this, you can simply upgrade your package.
Do I need a better WiFi router?
If your WiFi router is old and still working on the 2.4 GHz band, then yes, you need to upgrade to at least WiFi 5. This is because older routers cannot throughput the maximum speed you are paying for, which results in lower speed than expected when you run a wifi speed test.
What is the fastest type of internet?
The fastest type of internet you can buy today is Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in this type of internet connection. A fiber optic cable is connected straight to your house. Fiber optic cables can transmit the most data at the lowest latency. Wireless networks and mobile internet do not even come close.
